The 9th Annual meeting of Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) was held in Bucharest on 3-4 October 2018

The meeting, which brought together the representatives of the Broadcasting Regulatory authorities from BSEC Member States to discuss the theme of “Monitoring Internet Media in the Digital Age”, was attended by the Secretary General of BSEC PERMIS, H.E. Ambassador Michael B. Christides.

In his speech, the Ambassador Christides emphasized the fact that BSEC suffers from the lack of publicity even in its Member States and, therefore, the support of BRAF in the efforts to rectify this situation can be of vital importance. Talking about the activities of the BSEC Organization as well as the work of the BSEC Working Group on Information & Communication Technologies (ICT), Mr.Christides focused on the Project titled “Development of a tentative model for a Single Information Space (SIS) in the BSEC area - Golden Fleece”, initiated by the “ICD Media Inc.” from the Russian Federation.

The Secretary General informed the participants that, while assessing the initial project, PERMIS came to the conclusion that BRAF should be directly involved in the preparatory and the implementation phase of the project. The first meeting, which will aim at the discussion of the initial project implementation, is already scheduled on the end of October 2018 and will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. It is expected, that the project’s experts will present the major approaches and operation principles of the new BSEC Single Information Platform, aimed to show the potential of the BSEC countries in terms of enhancing inter-country cooperation and addressing the region’s current problems.

The Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) was established in June 2008 in Istanbul by releasing of a Joint Declaration of Black Sea Economic Cooperation member states’ broadcasting regulatory authorities based on a project proposal prepared by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) of Turkey.
